- 4.5×3 home office cabin: from $35,990
- 6×3 home office cabin: from $40,990
- Double-glazing upgrade: ~$2,000
- Heat pump installed: ~$2,500
What's included in the build price
Standard inclusion is a fully built, weather-tight cabin with: 100 mm insulated Coloursteel® EPS panels, insulated floor, internal wall lining and flooring, single-glazed windows as standard (double-glazed upgrade strongly recommended for office use), weather-tight door with deadlock, and free gate-to-gate North Island delivery on most designs.
Setting up power, data, and heating
Once the cabin lands, you'll typically spend on these to make it a real office:
- Power circuit + sub-circuit from house: $1,500–3,000 (sparky)
- Hardwired ethernet from house router: $300–800 (recommended for video calls)
- Heat pump (heating + summer cooling): $1,500–3,000 installed
- Double-glazed window upgrade: ~$2,000 at build time
- Better-than-standard insulation (optional): ~$800
Can you claim it as a business expense?
If you're self-employed or run a business from home, your accountant may be able to claim a portion of the cabin cost as a business expense. The exact treatment depends on what you do, how the cabin is used, and your wider tax situation - always check with your accountant before relying on this. Many of our home office customers do successfully claim a proportion.
